Healthcare Service Providers are mostly focused on delivering the entire chain, consisting of hundreds of applications, workplaces, printers, Wi-Fi, and up to the complete datacenter back office infrastructure. They provide total peace of mind to their healthcare end users, mostly focussing on business, applications and standards. As a rule, specialist skills and knowledge on datacenter infrastructure are generally purchased from a third party, and that is what this customer opted for. The two possible solutions were to either purchase an IaaS service, or to replace the legacy infrastructure with new technology. This service provider in question chose to renew their infrastructure.

This comprehensive solution offers easy management for the entire datacenter infrastructure. A single VMware capable administrator is able to manage hundreds of VMs for networking, storage and services.

This application and web hosting company offers applications through a number of web portal using an equal number of networking paths, VPNs, internet connectivity, etc. Dovilo offer a complete solution for backup and DR right from their own datacenter.

The solution components consist of:

An educational institution with approximately 5,000 students offers a workplace for each of them at their locations. Because the workplaces are never in use at the same time, desktop virtualization was the ideal way to provide the large number of students with access to the IT and curriculum materials. Dovilo offered a solution for issues relating to management and performance at the school.

The implementation of Tintri as a high-perfomance VDI appliance instead of an HP 3Par solution has simplified management and improved performance. Dovilo is a Gold Certified partner of Tintri and offers users full management and support. The solution consists of multiple 800 series arrays for rollout of all desktop environments. The level of performance control within the entire virtual desktop chain is now managed by a single administrator, without the need for expensive training courses or specialists.

A very large company offering multi-PetaByte data capacity for content that needs to be edited and streamed in various ways, has selected a solution by Dovilo.

The solution consists of delivery, implementation and 24×7 support and will be implemented in three datacenters for maximal redundancy. Every datacenter can be accessed individually. Over the last two years, Dovilo has evolved into a specialist offering these kinds of solutions, which is part of the reason it was selected for this project. The unique proposition includes software defined storage that lowers IO cost significantly compared to traditional techniques. The first purchase consists of a test project of 100 TB, with a follow-up of multiple PetaBytes during the coming months.

A global technology company has chosen a solution including design, implementation and 24×7 support combined with EMC ScaleIO.

A total of 6,000 workplaces and high-level flexibility and security resulted in high costs for physical dedicated line connectivity. ScaleIO enabled high performance for CAD/CAM workstations without the disadvantages that traditional VDI storage usually bring. A test over six months showed that the preferred storage vendor could not compete with the power and scalability that SDS solutions could bring, even when using flash storage.

The initial project consisted of the delivery of a CAD/CAM workstation solution, followed by applying it to all workplaces in phases. In one fell swoop, this customer has become the single largest user of VDI applications using ScaleIO.

A financial institution carries huge responsibility for the availability of its production, primarily offering maximised reliability. However, costs are an important burden to the competitiveness of this financial institution. The traditional approach usually consists of disaster recovery in a twin datacenter setup, which results in 50% of the investment in fact going to what is basically an insurance.

Disaster Recovery in 2014 and the future

Private and public cloud offerings have enabled many new software innovations that are now available for hybrid or on-premise implementations. Dovilo uses reliable innovations that enable to lower traditional RTO and RPO to under a minute, in addition to lower costs of an ISO27001 compliant secured private cloud.

The implemented solution enables this bank to secure over 140 TB of data and 250 VMs at a quarter of the costs it had previously.

A research institute is in need of very high data capacity with matching performance. The challenge was to keep it affordable. Until recently, much data was wasted and there were constraints on data generation. That, unfortunately, resulted in lack of utilisation of data value. Our expertise in eliminating limiting factors enabled the customer to enact immediate improvements to production at minimal cost impact.

After successful testing the client decided to manage more than 5 PetaBytes of data using this solution.

An online media company with more than a million unique website visitors per year was in need of scalability, performance and outsourcing of maintenance to a single vendor. The solution by Dovilo has resulted in 80% lower costs and increased flexibility. The customer was able to engage 1.2 FTE of the team less to the server and storage platform and is now in the process of scaling up. The customer migrates their entire environment to the new central solution over the coming years.
